James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, later known as the Winter Soldier, is a major character of The Infinity Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, serving as the tritagonist of Captain America: The First Avenger, the central antagonist-turned-hexagonist of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the deuteragonist of Captain America: Civil War, a major character of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame and the co-protagonist of The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.
He was a sergeant in the United States army, a personal friend of Steve Rogers and a member of the Howling Commandos.
